PRECO To Give Away Truck At 70th Annual Meeting
Peace River Electric Cooperative, Inc. will hold its 70th Annual Membership Meeting at its PRECO Park in Wauchula, on Saturday, March 6th. Peace River Electric (PRECO), formed in 1940, provides electricity to nearly 35,000 services in a 10 county area of central Florida. More than 1,500 people are expected to attend the event. Entertainment will be provided by local singing artists Tony Stockton, recent ‘Wauchula Idol’ winner, and Sherry White, both of Wauchula. Free hotdogs, chips, popcorn, ice cream, and snow cones will be available throughout the day, which officially begins at 11:00 a.m. A variety of activities will be on-hand, including, a caricature artist, Welde’s Bears, Croc Encounters, many community service information booths, and much more. For children, pony rides, a bounce house, an inflatable slide, and a climbing wall will be offered. For the first time, ‘Live Line Demonstrations,’ showing the dangers associated with power lines and how to be safe around them, will be performed for our members. ‘We’re excited to have the Live Line Demo this year,’ shares Ron Stevens, PRECO’s Administrator of Corporate Facilities, ‘We anticipate that our members will be amazed at the deadly force that power lines hold.’ Also a first for PRECO’s Annual Meeting, a retired vehicle will be awarded as the grand prize. Each registered member will receive a prize ticket to be entered in a drawing for more than 100 door prizes, including a 2000 Ford Ranger 4x4 pickup truck. ‘The possibility of winning a truck should really generate some interest in Annual Meeting this year,’ adds Stevens, ‘especially since you must be present to win.’ Members must bring a photo ID, such as a driver’s license, in order to register. Annual Meeting provides an opportunity for members of the cooperative to meet co-op personnel, participate in the business meeting held at 1:00 p.m., spend time with friends and neighbors, and enjoy various activities in a ‘county fair’ atmosphere. Recently elected directors will be officially seated at the meeting. For more information on PRECO’s 70th Annual Membership Meeting, visit www.preco.coop or call 1-800-282-3824. PRECO Park is located at 220 Knight Road, Wauchula.
